Does schema markup help AI visibility?

Short answer: Yes, indirectly but reliably: valid LocalBusiness, Product and FAQPage JSON-LD gives models unambiguous facts and reduces confusion with similar names.

Yes, though not in the way a ranking factor works. Structured data does not make an assistant mention you; it makes it far less likely that the assistant misunderstands you, confuses you with a similarly named business, or hedges by leaving you out because it is not sure what you do.

The mechanism is simple. Retrieval systems and the pipelines that build training data extract entities from pages. JSON-LD gives them a clean, machine-readable statement of your name, address, phone, opening hours, services, prices and reviews, with no need to infer anything from layout or marketing copy. It is also the same data Google uses for rich results, so you are doing one job for two channels.

The types that earn their keep:

  • Organization or LocalBusiness (with the specific subtype such as Plumber, Dentist, Electrician) on the homepage and contact page, with name, address, telephone, openingHoursSpecification, areaServed and sameAs links to your profiles.
  • Service or Product on each service or product page, with offers and a price where you can publish one.
  • FAQPage on pages that genuinely answer questions, because the question-and-answer pairs are exactly the shape assistants lift into responses.
  • BreadcrumbList so the site's structure is explicit.

Two warnings. Markup must match the visible page; mismatches between schema and copy are a trust problem, not a trick. And invalid JSON-LD is ignored entirely, so a missing comma can silently waste the whole effort.

Seoptist's audit checks presence and validity of these types, lists missing required fields, and on Growth and above generates corrected JSON-LD for you to paste in.
